Surplus power from a standby generator may be sold back to your power company if its from a renewable source. Typically, however,  they work by using either stored electricity, or fossil fuel, so that they can provide independent power  to your home for a limited amount of time. While this isn’t an acceptable permanent power replacement, it is a suitable alternative in an emergency. But you’ll need to figure out which type of home standby generator will work for your home. You can do this simply by determining about how much wattage is required to power your home at any given time.
